Orthodoxy on Tap NYC is thrilled to welcome the newly enthroned Archbishop ELPIDOPHOROS, of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, to speak on “Being Orthodox in a non-Orthodox World” followed by an open Q&A and fellowship.

Orthodoxy on Tap is back with a summer picnic in Central Park. Come join us for fellowship and bring your friends, a sheet/blanket to sit on and food or drinks to share (if you so choose). We’re also trying to be conscious of God’s creation and our environmental impact and therefore we’re asking everyone to bring their own reusable plates. We’ll post details on the day with where to meet us in the Sheep’s Meadow and we may have some surprises in store.

His Eminence Archbishop MICHAEL (Dahulich) of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA)

Christ is Risen! Orthodoxy on the Harbor is back with a very special guest, His Eminence Archbishop MICHAEL (Dahulich) of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Archbishop MICHAEL is the former dean of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, Pennsylvania, and continues to serve there as Rector and Associate Professor of New Testament and Ethics. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1973 and in late 2009 was elected by the Holy Synod to serve as administrator of the Diocese of NY & NJ, which he has done since 2010. We are thrilled to have His Eminence joining us this month and look forward to seeing you there.

Philoptochos Ladies (“Friends of the Poor” Women’s group) of St. Spyridon’s and Dr. Vasiliki Tsigas-Fotinis

Join us for an evening of Prosphora baking and learning about the use and meaning of the Prosphora/holy bread/Kurban/Holy Qurbana in the Orthodox Church and about the Proskomide. The Proskomide is the preparation of the Holy Gifts, the Body & Blood of Christ. It is carving and arranging the gifts of the people of God, to be offered on the Holy Altar in the Divine Liturgy. Plus a wonderful evening of fellowship and food!


Grab your Prosphora seal (if you have one! if not, don’t worry!) and join us!

**Note: The event is starting 30 minutes earlier to allow more time for the actual baking of the Prosphora, which includes letting the dough rise**

It wouldn’t be Orthodoxy on Tap without an evening of grape pressing!  Come stomp with us as we make homemade wine with Dr. Vasiliki Tsigas- Fotinis as our facilitator.  Dr. Vasiliki is a Creative Learning Consultant who “designs relationships for learning and CommUNITY.” She will be talking about the importance and meaning of wine in the life of the Church and how work and Faith go hand in hand.
